Sung-Yon received his bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and Biological Sciences, summa cum laude, from Seoul National University in 2009 and earned his Ph.D. in Neurosciences from Stanford University in 2013 with Professor Karl Deisseroth. His thesis work was supported by Samsung Scholarship and recognized with the Lindsley Prize in Behavioral Neuroscience by the Society for Neuroscience. He completed his postdoctoral training with Professor Kwanghun Chung at MIT in 2015, with supports from Simons Center for the Social Brain and Life Sciences Research Foundation. He then started his own lab at Seoul National University in 2015, focusing on the neural circuits underlying behavioral regulation of homeostasis. He has since been recognized with Asan Award in Medicine, Hanseong Science Award, and the Commendation from the Ministry of Health and Welfare and has been named a member of Young Korean Academy of Science and Technology.
